WP4

Value Chain and Socio-Economic Embedding

About the Workpackage

This WP tackles three key challenges related to efficiency and sustainability of the wind turbine blade value chain, building out from and in parallel to the technological innovations in WP1-3. First, since the current system of blade manufacturing depends on long value chains of materials and a limited number of specialized service companies, there is a need to explore what opportunities and obstacles are experienced by stakeholders of the wind turbine blade values chain with respect to circularity to wind blade materials. This requires an overview on a large scale of a wind turbine blade value chain of what the efficiency of recycling is and how manufacturing can be improved with insights from the ‘tool’.

Outputs

  • Mapping and engagement exercise
  • Assessment of current and future blade maintenance systems
  • Guidelines for the use of blade diagnostics
